In The Beginning
Enter the Saluki -- Namely, Mysti!!!
CH. RASZULI'S MYSTIQUE OF AREL
 | Mysti with her booboo-- see the sock on her leg? | "Baby Star" is what Lisa nicknamed her. At eight weeks old, she
was
smarter than two adult humans combined. Wily Coyote, Monster Child,
Wonder Woman! Loving Terrorist of the Afghan Hound, wouldn't stop
kissing him (Bojador) 24/7. Loved both, pestered Bodie.
Unfortunately, Bodie died 8 months later, but Mysti loved Alfie, too.
He was Mr. Mom, he watched over his little baby star, and protected
her. They mourned Bodie's loss with Bob and me.
 | | At 10 Months | This little wild child was precocious. At the tender age of 9
weeks, she
was hoisting herself up and over the baby gates we installed, hiding
herself from being captured on film or in person by whoever was
watching her that moment. But such a sweet puppy! She loved
everyone, including her veterinarian and all his assistants and
technicians. "Happy Water", Lisa called it. Should have bought stock
in Scott Paper, I should've. Chagrined if I walked into the vet's
office without a roll under my armpit. They laughed, thinking it was
soooo funny. To this day, and she's a Veteran now! I must carry
those towels to mop up her happy, "Oh, I'm sooo glad to see you"
trail. Funny!!!! Yes! Just proved we named her right, "Mysti".
 | At 13 Months Always Smiling
| Our queen. The sweetest, most affectionate Saluki that ever
existed.
She greets every friend as though they live here, and she's glad to
see they arrived home safely. She loves little children, although she
was not raised with little ones. She listens to conversations, and
joins in with real laughter when she finds something really funny, and
agrees with us when we tell tales that she recalls. She loves to sing
to the sirens, and I will join in, or actually get her started. It's
a game we play. She presses her nose against the window of the door -
and SINGS!!!
 | | At 13 Months | When she had her first litter of pups, she chose to have them IN
MY BED!
Fine with me, it was easier on my back. But, the grin on her face as
she rolled over onto her back, and started popping puppies, was as if
she said, "Ok, Mom, I push, YOU CATCH!" Mama and babies moved to the
whelping box when she was all done, only to return to my bed several
days later, when the precocious "queen" wanted her babies brought TO
her to be nursed, on the bed, thank you very much. Oh, I challenge
you, live with a Saluki the way it really wants to be treated. You
will be manipulated - and truly appreciated for your devotion. Do I
have that backwards somehow? Isn't it the dog who is to be
appreciated for devotion to its master???
Mysti is the joy of my life. Her love and devotion to her family
has
been greater than all those before her combined. I cannot bestow any
less than that upon her. Please enjoy the collection of photographs
of CH. RASZULI'S MYSTIQUE OF AREL. My Saluki foundation bitch, and
the stuff which has held my firmament together for at least eight
years. I love you, Mysti!
